About this Recipe

By: Leon

Baby Back Ribs will always draw a crowd and it’s really easy to make ribs that’ll keep ’em coming back for more.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of ribs
  • Apple juice (use in a spray bottle)
  • 2 T Salt
  • 1/4 C Paprika
  • 2 T Granulated Garlic
  • 2 T White Sugar
  • 2 T Chili Powder
  • 1 T Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 T Black Pepper
  • 1 T Cumin
  • 1 T Granulated Ohion

How To Make It

Step 1

Start by removing the membrane from the bone side of the ribs. It’s easy: just slip a butter knife between the membrane and a rib bone. Once you lift the membrane enough to slip a finger in there grab the membrane (using a paper towel) and pull off the membrane. Sometimes you can get the entire membrane off in one try. If not, start with another bone and repeat.

Step 2

Cover both sides of the ribs with your favorite rub, or you can make your own with dry ingredients listed. Place the ribs in a covered container and refrigerate for at least four hours (over night is okay).

Step 3

Get your smoker up to 250°. Place the ribs in a foil pan (bone side down) and cook for two hours. Note: Keep the ribs in the refrigerator until you’re ready for cooking. After about an hour, spritz the ribs with apple juice. Do this a couple more times through the next hour.

Step 4

After about two hours flip the ribs over, cover the pan with aluminum foil then put them back in the smoker.

Step 5

Check the ribs about every 20 – 30 minutes and spritz as necessary. You’re just making sure the ribs don’t dry out so spritz as needed.

Step 6

After an additional two hours of cooking check the ribs for doneness. You can tell the ribs are done when the bones pull away from the meat.

Step 7

There are two ways to serve them: wet or dry. If you prefer adding sauce (Leon’s Good Stuff is a perfect choice) then brush the ribs with sauce and the place the ribs directly on the smoker grate. It’ll take about 15 minutes or so for the sauce to get sticky, which is just right for serving.

Step 8

Remove the ribs from the smoker. Keep them in a covered foil pan for about 20 minutes or so before serving.

Step 9

Cut the ribs to your desired proportions and eat ’em up!
